Location
The Dexter Historical Society museums have two locations.

The Grist Mill Campus, which includes the Grist Mill Museum, The Millers House and the Carr Schoolhouse, is just off Route 7 in the center of town. A large sign indicating the museum and the municipal parking lot is visible on the left hand when traveling north from Newport. Traveling south on Route 7 the turn would be to the right just past the street light, in front of the Family Dollar store.

The Abbott Museum is on Route 7 (at 12 Church Street). Traveling north it is on the left after passing through the street light. Traveling south it is on the right, opposite the Shop & Save parking lot.

Dexter is in the center of Maine, an easy drive on Route 7 north, from exit 157 off I-95. Route 7 leads to Dover-Foxcroft and Route 6-16 to 11 to the Mt. Katahdin area. Dexter is also on the Moosehead Trail, leading west to Greenville and Moosehead Lake.
